What a fantastic night we had at the NEyouth (formerly known as Northumberland clubs for young people) Celebration and Awards Night.
Phoenix detached youth project were nominated in two categories and won both. Firstly 'Youth Worker of the Year Award' went to Mike Burgess. The judges comments were that "Mike has demonstrated an incredible level of commitment to the young people at Phoenix DYP. Strong relationships build up over many years have enabled Mike to tackle a wide range of challenging issues and make appropriate responses".
Secondly the 'NEyouth Large project with pride project of the year' was awarded to us for our informal education resources (SOS pack on self harm, Respect factor pack on domestic abuse and Chemical Guinea Pig film about legal highs). The panel said "this was a worthy winner as they are resources focusing on in depth issues. It was also highlighted by the panel for the young people producing packs in these subjects which were recognised as valuable resources by Public Health North Tyneside and have been distributed to every secondary school in North Tyneside".
