Last month we held a meeting with residents from Chirton Lodge about what they would like to do with Phoenix DYP. It transpired that with the bad weather many of them had been unable to get out and about so one of the thing they identified was help with their food shopping. We agreed to do a pilot of fortnightly trips to a local supermarket for residents. They would be supported by a couple of young people who would get shopping for those who were unable to go themselves. The first session saw 10 residents coming with us and 2 additional people providing us with a shopping list and today we had 9 residents and 3 additional lists.
Some of the comments we have received from residents are;
" It has been very useful to me as I can't get out"
"This really is an excellent project"
"It has been ideal for me as shopping is very heavy to carry so it has been a good help"
"Being able to get there straight away and not have to wait for buses and then change twice has made it much easier for me".
