Last resi of the year and general updates

Well, we did it, we had our final residential of 2016 at the weekend and is safe to say it went out in style. The weekend saw is take the Barmy Army up to Beadnell bay from friday to sunday.
After an initial scare with the weather as it was bucketing down on friday night and also canny windy (this didnt stop the lads wanting to go for a night walk) the weather cleared for saturday and stayed clear till we left on sunday.
Saturday saw us spending the day doing some kayaking in the morning and some sand sledding in the afternoon, along with various other games to keep everyone entertained. the lads had a great time doing these activities and even came up with new ways to sand sled. Sunday was a chilled morning as we enjoyed a full English breakfast before tidying the house and a quick trip to seahouses. Everyone had a great time and the group were an absolute pleasure to take away.

2016 has been a busy year for us with residentials as the 3 core staff have spent a combined total of 27 nights away this year, staying at places including Beadnell Bay, Hexham and Mount Hooley. They continue to be a pivotal part of our work as we can often find out as much about a young person in a weekend away as we can in the months of activities and 1 to 1's before. They also allow young people who dont always get a chance to go on holiday the chance to leave the estate and see other parts of the country.

Well time to continue with our autumn and winter work and all the excitment that brings, including the continuation of the foodbank, more exciting things with Norham School including a new music project, panto with the intergenerational project and of course the parents and childrens xmas party.
