One of the Helping Hands groups was keen to do a creative arts project and we were fortunate enough to work with Gail from Happy Planet Creative Arts CIC, Whitley Bay. The group came up with the idea of a Phoenix bird with words on the wings to represent being involved with Helping Hands. Some of the words they came up with are; relaxed, changing lives, your way, supportive, escape, caring, inspiring and friendships. Gail was fantastic at supporting the group with their ideas and making them a reality. The phoenix is made up of paper mache body, fabric wings and gold leaf feet and beak. There is scope for the bird to evolve over time with other young people being able to add other words to the wings.
