11 of us came together from 2 different groups to go on a residential to the Kingsway centre in Middletone in Teesdale. We did a mixture of activities such as team building, rock climbing, high ropes, walked to Low Force and High Force and also piloted the domestic abuse pack which has been written by Phoenix DYP.
We all learnt alot. The real life case studies made us understand more and that it happens to young people where we live. We were shocked at how it can affect young people in different ways and how often. It made us realise that weeks turn into months and that some young people are trapped in horrible relationships for years. It was a good pack as they used different things such as food to demonstrate emotions and this made it more interesting. We also learnt that domestic abuse can happen to young men as well as women.
We enjoyed piloting the pack and think more young people should be shown it so they can be made aware.
