The Supertramps went on a weekend residential experience in late September. For some of the group this is the 3rd time they have been away with us on overnight stays and its safe to say it was as fun as ever.
The first evening was spent chilling, chatting and playing card games as a nice relaxing session and what we can now call the calm before the storm (and what a storm it was). Saturday most of us awoke to the sound of strong winds and torrential rain. (One young man awoke to a bag of frozen peas on his face after ignoring our previous attempts at waking him). For most groups the sight of this would be enough to have them running back to their duvets, but not the Supertramps. After a good breakfast of cereals, toast and breakfast bars, it was time to wetsuit up and head out for a session of kayak surfing. The group had a great time battling the surf and catching waves. Some even attempted to jump the waves which ended as comically as expected.
After a couple of hours in the water and a kayak only missing knocking me out by a Neo esque dodge, it was time to call it quits and head back to the house for some lunch. After lunch the weather calmed down and the sun came out, this meant we could go for a wander round Seahouses and the lads went and played in the arcade for an hour.
After we came back we spent some time with the lads doing some sessions from our booze factor pack. The idea behind it was to help the lads be better aware of the dangers of alcohol and to better understand its long and short term effects while keeping the learning fun. The group really enjoyed this and seemed to get a lot out of the session.
This was followed an evening meal of chicken nuggets and chips (their choice) before heading out and playing man hunt in the sand dunes, a game where myself and 3 of the lads had to hide while mike and the other 3 had an hour to search for us in the dark (we won yay). After this we headed back to the house for some more card games and hot chocolate before bed.
The next morning the lads woke to a full English breakfast before a full clean of the house was done in preparation for leaving. This was a chance for the lads to learn the age old techniques of hoovering and dish washing. On the way back we stopped off for a game of crazy golf before saying goodbye to Seahouses and returning safe and sound to Meadowell.
