The past week has seen the PDYP receive £178 towards its emergency food bank. This helps young people in crisis on the estate who are not eligible for food parcels from other agencies or who are in absolute crisis outside of food banks working hours. The food parcels are also used to help alleviate a small amount of pressure from the bigger food banks who are already stretched to capacity through the constant changes in benefits and higher levels of poverty in certain areas.
This would not have been possible without the Help of Hazel Barlow who generously donate two large boxes of Thornton's chocolate. This was then raffled at North Tyneside councils offices with the support of North Tyneside Council and Sport North Tyneside who not only organised the raffle for us but also collected the donations.
This has allowed us to create 8 food parcels as well as have a small contingency fun to buy specialist items that don't have as long of a shelf life such as baby food.
We would like to thank not only those who helped organise the raffle but also all those who bought tickets
