A Chocolate Distopia

Thursday the 23rd of July saw 2 of our local young artists take on their first paid piece of commisioned Graffiti.

Act2Cam, a north shields project around film making were producing a t.v show pilot based around a world where the government has banned chocolate due to it having a psycoactive drug in it that people had started abusing (think Willy Wonka meets Breaking Bad).

They recruited the two young artists to spray paint a "Shock Den" a place where people hangout and take chocolate, with the brief, make it bright, make it trippy and make it look well used.

The lads really stepped up there game and spray painted several large impressive pieces as can be seen in the photo above as well as tagging every inch of wall, settee and mattress they could reach with a can.

Both young men had a really fun time doing the project and after 7 hours wearing masks that made us sound like Darth Vader, enough paint fumes to make it impossible for people without those masks to stay in more than 10 minutes without going light headed (a paint and brush artist came to complete some work and and after 10 minutes decided to come back another day), and around 50 cans of spray paint, both James andKristian came away happy with what they achieved, even getting a chance to actually "tag" walls, something they have never had the chance to do painting at our legal spaces
