High Borrans: A journey to employment

Last weekend, the Phoenix detached youth project went on their annual "Journey to Employment" residential to High Borrans in partnership with the Active North Tyneside and the Club1 lads 10 young males attended the residential with the aim of the weekend was to provide an experience of a working lifestyle and show them what key skills they require to be successful in a working environment. The participants were split into three groups and were tasked to do various jobs around the site of High Borrans. It was great to see all the lads put in lots of effort with some great leadership, team work and communication skills on show throughout the day. Once the jobs were complete the participants did some challenging outdoor activities such as Archery and Caving, a great expereince for the individuals! Well done to the "workaholics" who were awarded first place in our "friendly" competition for being the team of the weekend. (A very tough decision!) A special mention to Lewis, who was the youngest person on the residential, winning Unsung Hero Award! Thank you to Michael from Active North tyneside for all your help and to Roy and all the High Borrans team for making our weekend such a great success!
